Trevor Powell, the Diocesan Archivist, welcomes
research enquiries about records holdings as well as
requests for information about former clergy
and lay workers, parish or church history,
diocesan organizations, mission and ministry,
past events and activities research.
Trevor handles searched relating to Baptisms, Confirmations, Marriages and Burials, family and local history and genealogy and enquiries relating to records management, access and privacy issues. Trevor will do his best to respond to your queries as soon as possible but please bear in mind that this is a volunteer position so please give him as much lead time as possible. |

Mandate and Scope
Under Canon 16 and Regulations, the Diocese of Qu'Appelle Archives is responsible for acquiring,
preservation and making available the records of Diocesan Synod and its committees,
the Synod office, former diocesan institutions and missions, the records of the Bishops
of Qu'Appelle, and records of parishes and congregations. For the most part the records cover the
period from the creation of the Diocese in 1884 to the present day. Some parishes date from an earlier
time since a few parishes and missions were served by native catechists and itinerate
priests from the
neighbouring Diocese of Rupert's Land
Location
Through a written agreement between the Synod of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle and
the Saskatchewan Archives,
the Synod retains ownership of the records which are housed in a secure and
environmentally-controlled vault
at the Saskatchewan Archives, 3303 Hillsdale Street, Regina.
Access to records
Since the diocesan and parish records contain personal information or have not been completely arranged and
described, access to many records is restricted. In order to avoid disappointment, it is strongly
recommended that you consult the Archivist and make arrangements for consultation

Trevor recently retired for him position as Provincial Archivist of Saskatchewan after 33 years as a professional archivist and 20 of them as head of the Saskatchewan Archives. He will continue to serve as Archivist and Registrar of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle and Archivist of the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert's Land.
Trevor co-authored "Living Faith: A Pictorial History for the Diocese of Qu'Appelle" (1984). He has also written several articles relating to Saskatchewan and Anglican Church history.
