DIOCESE OF QU'APPELLE
The 73rd Synod of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle
Reports
Anglican Church Women's Report
The Anglican Church Women of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle hold one diocesan meeting a year. This is held on the third Saturday of April. In 2006 this meeting was held at St. Phillip's Anglican Church, Regina with 33 ladies present. Our meetings consist of opening devotions, correspondence, reports from the various chair persons, which include:
Juniors: girls and boys ages 6 - 13 years, depending on the community they are from;
Little Helpers: boys and girls who have been baptized, from infants to age six years;
Social Action: contact with Transition Houses, Early Learning and other community services dealing with social resources and emergencies that may arise;
Book of Remembrance: Books where the names of our deceased, faithful and dedicated members of the Woman's Auxiliary and the Anglican Church Women are kept on record, these books are on display at St. Paul's Cathedral; and our
financial report. Reports are given by those on the executive as well. Each year our organization holds a 'Silent Auction' to help with our financial commitments.
Our Diocesan ACW supports the College of Emmanuel and St. Chad; Theological Student Bursaries; Diocesan Fair Shares, the Bishop's Discretionary Fund; PWRDF and Camp Harding.
Our purpose: To meet annually to network, learn, explore and share our Christian faith. These experiences deepen and strengthen our spirituality, equipping us for the task of spreading the Christian message.
Our mission/vision: To focus on sharing, learning and living our Christian faith. Our mission is to be witnesses for God in the world through commitment to Christ and to one another. Our ACW hymn is 'The Love of Christ Constraineth'.
Due to the ages of some of our members, the distance to travel from one side of this Diocese to the other and health related problems, our organization decided to hold one general meeting [our annual] a year and one meeting of the executive committee with the Deanery presidents or coordinators present. The executive committee meeting was held in the fall to plan the annual spring meeting. over the past year or so, some of the deaneries have disbanded, as well as some of the congregational branches.
This year our annual meeting will be held at the newly formed Church in Moose Jaw, St. Adian's, on Saturday, April 21, 2007. The president attends the National conference of the ACW president's and/or Coordinators. the conference for 2007 will be held in Terrace, B.C. and the 2008 conference will be held in Kingston, Ontario. These meetings are held in the fall.
Our members are active in leading services, visiting the ill and shut-ins, helping with church events and serving on various church committees.
Our concern is where our organization is headed, both at the Diocesan and National levels. Our prayer is that God will continue to work through us to help spread the Word of God and do his work where ever it may be needed.
Respectively submitted,
Isabella J. Frank,
President
