THE CHURCHMOUSE RESOURCE CENTRE

The Mission Statement of the Churchmouse Resource Centre states, "The Churchmouse Resource Centre, as an integral part of the ministry of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle, will serve as a source of appropriate print and non-print material for worship, education, and spiritual development of individuals and parishes."

The Churchmouse Resource Centre is the ONLY Anglican Diocesan Book Store west of Kingston, ON! There are 9 Anglican Diocesan Book Stores in Canada.

Although The Anglican Book Centre Retail Store in Toronto will be closing soon, the Churchmouse will continue to stock their publications and distribution lines from their warehouse. The Churchmouse does not charge to its customers, shipping charges from distributors or G.S.T. Only mailing costs from Regina to you are charged, if the parcel cannot be picked up at the Synod Office. Purchases may be paid for by: cash, cheque or charged on an invoice (sorry, no credit cards!)

Eileen Barrie is the manager and is accountable to the Bishop, Director of Administration and the Executive Officer.

The Churchmouse is open Monday to Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. An answering machine allows callers to leave messages or place orders at any time. This is useful for people wishing to leave a message on the weekend or during periods when the Churchmouse is closed.

The Churchmouse is pleased to appear on the Anglican Diocese of Qu'Appelle Website homepage. Visitors to the site may click on the Churchmouse Booklists - basic titles and seasonal resources. Information is updated frequently by the Diocesan Website Task Force.

Recently, Booklists and other important information items from the Churchmouse have been e-mailed to recipients of the weekly Diocesan "Tuesday Newsday" newsletter (hardcopies have also been provided).

The help of many dedicated (experienced and new) volunteers from several Regina Parishes, is the key to the successful ministry of the Churchmouse. Seven volunteers regularly assist in the Centre (extras at Inventory Time), and their contribution is most valuable.

The Churchmouse loans: books, kits, video and D.V.D. tapes. Newly acquired study materials include: The Alpha Marriage Preparation Course (for engaged couples), Alpha Marriage Course (for married couples) and thirteen NOOMA Christian Perspective D.V.D.s by Rob Bell

The Churchmouse stocks for sale: books (from the Anglican Book Centre and other publishers) on worship - lectionary materials, liturgy, sermon aids, stories, humor; pastoral aids - the sacraments, faith, lay ministry, small church, congregational; prayer; spirituality; teaching; pastoral care - healing, family counseling, death and dying; Celtic, labyrinth; family, women, youth and children; bibles; hymn and prayer books; church and church school supplies; study materials; recreational reading; gift items; greeting cards; certificates; bulletin covers, letterhead, offering envelopes; medallions; and jewelry. Alpha program and support materials are stocked and supplied to Anglican, Lutheran and other study groups. Special orders are gladly accepted.

Many people in the Diocese help by: arranging for displays in their parishes, transporting orders to people out of Regina, and setting up off-site display sales. This continues to be a very important part of the ministry of the Churchmouse. In 2001, the staff organized 23 such sales, 34 in 2002, and 31 in 2003, 31in 2004, 31 in 2005 and 32 in 2006 (including the Anglican Diocese of Saskatoon Synod - March 2006, the Rupert's Land Provincial Synod for 10 Diocese - May 2006 and the Anglican Church of Canada/Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada "National Worship Conference" - Regina / July 2006. The Churchmouse manager attends many of the displays, others are supervised by the hosting group or Churchmouse volunteers. Typical off-site sales include: A.C.W. Diocesan and Deanery Meetings, Bazaars, Teas, Retreats (Lay and Clergy), Conferences, Ministry Training Workshops, Church School Tables, and Diocesan Events.

The Churchmouse Resource Centre provides displays at Synod Diocesan Events for the Diocese of Qu'Appelle. The Churchmouse distributes required reading books, booklets, pamphlets and prayer cards for The Order of Saint Luke Chapters all across Canada.

The manager of the Churchmouse is appreciative for the opportunity to have attended for the last six years, the Annual Anglican Book Sellers' Conference at Church House in Toronto ON.

The clergy, support staff, parishioners and walk-in customers are thanked for their patronage, patience and kindness.

Respectfully submitted,
Eileen M. Barrie, Manager
