DIOCESE OF QU'APPELLE
The 73rd Synod of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle
Reports
Saskatchewan Anglican Report
"Saskatchewan Anglican, a section of Anglican Journal, is the journal of the Anglican Church in the
Province of Saskatchewan. A co- operative venture of the Dioceses of Saskatoon, Qu'Appelle and
Saskatchewan with its aim to reflect a wide range of news and opinion with the Church" said a
former editor. With the exception of July and August, the newspaper is published monthly. Each
diocese has an associate editor who is responsible for reporting all items that take place in or
are connected to his/her diocese. The associate editor receives stories from persons throughout
the diocese: some unsolicited, some requested. The associate then edits the stories to match the
guidelines of the newspaper and the Canadian Press Stylebook, 12th edition; as well, the associate
checks the syntax, punctuation, spelling and clarity of thought in those items. The stories are then
sent to the managing editor for further editing and arranging the layout of each issue.
Our diocesan newspaper along with the national Journal is the only communication vehicle that goes to
every identifiable Anglican household in the diocese. Currently the Journal/diocesan newspaper has
a Heritage Canada designation entitling it to a very substantial reduction in postage. The cost to
Qu'Appelle in 2006 for the delivery of the paper to each household was $3.17 ($8,997.50 total costs
divided by 2,838 subscriptions.) However, the rebate in 2006 from the Journal annual appeal netted
Qu'Appelle $4978.74 making the cost of the 2006 copies $1.42 each.
Many people in our diocese kindly send in their stories and events and some have accepted
