DIOCESE OF QU'APPELLE
The 73rd Synod of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle
Reports
VENTURE IN MISSION
CASE COMMITTEE
The Diocesan VIM Case Committee was formed to create a group that could review and approve proposals for the use of the diocesan portion of VIM funds.
The Committee approved the following guidelines to assist VIM Subcommittees and project coordinators when putting forward VIM funding requests:
Guiding Principles
· To support and provide financial assistance for projects that further the ministry and mission of the Church in our diocese,
· To exercise good stewardship in approving projects with a view to meeting needs and opportunities that encompass the diversity of the diocese.
Since our last Synod the Case Committee has approved one new major piece of work. A stewardship officer was hired in the fall of 2004.
VENTURE IN MISSION
SUB-COMMITTEES
Four Venture in Mission sub-committees were put in place to oversee and implement the work suggested by our Diocesan Case. Since our last Synod these committees have not met as VIM funds were used to fund major pieces of work which began in 2001; a half-time position to work in the area of Healing and Reconciliation (funding for that ended in 2005) and another half-time position for a Ministry Development Coordinator (which ended in 2004)
In 2004 a Stewardship Officer was hired at the request of Diocesan Council. VIM funds were used to pay for this contract. Funding was extended to the end of 2007, however, this position became vacant in December 2006.
