Each partner church will exchange news about themselves and their local community, so that they can pray with real understanding for each other, compare parish mission programmes and reflect prayerfully together on their strengths and their 'growing points'. E-mail makes this an exciting possibility today as never before. We can swap pictures and even video clips as well as words.
The commitment is to pray faithfully - in public worship, in house groups and in private - for a limited two-year period (mid-2006 until July 2008).
Then, in July 2008, the Lichfield church/parish will welcome a small team of four people from their overseas partner church to visit them for two weeks of 'sharing'. This can take whatever form seems appropriate to the partners as they think and pray together: a parish mission, a time of study, a children's or youth programme.
The overseas guests will also be invited, together with representatives from their host parish, to share in an international mission conference from 7-9 July 2008, when we hope to be joined by each of the bishops from our companion dioceses as they come here for the Lambeth Conference.
Respectfully submitted, Canon Marilyn Dean
